Studio 2 is a standalone loft on our private family property — a compact, characterful space with its own entrance, its own personality, and a real sense of independence. Tucked under the eaves of its own building, it suits guests who want more than just a bed: a proper kitchen to cook in, room to spread out after a long day, and the quiet of a residential neighbourhood with Basel just minutes away. We live on the same property and welcome every guest personally on arrival.

About Studio 2
Studio 2 sits quietly in its own building at the back of a private garden — a genuine hideaway that feels further from the city than it actually is. The winding stone path from the entrance leads guests through mature plantings, birdsong and seasonal blooms, and at dusk the garden lights guide you safely back to your studio — a quiet end to whatever the day brought. The kitchen is properly equipped for real cooking, and we are close by if anything is needed — without ever being in the way.
It suits couples, families with a child, and professionals on assignment who want more than a hotel room — somewhere to come back to, cook a meal, spread out, and feel at home. The bedroom sleeps two under a skylight, with a dedicated workspace and a porthole window that gives the room its own character. The sleeping sofa accommodates a third guest when needed.
Basel is one of Europe’s most quietly exceptional cities. The Kunstmuseum Basel holds one of the oldest and finest public art collections on the continent. The Fondation Beyeler in Riehen — fifteen minutes by tram — is among the world’s great private museums, with a programme running from Cézanne through Pierre Huyghe and Ruth Asawa. The Museum Tinguely celebrates the kinetic sculptures of Jean Tinguely with characteristic wit. For architecture, the Vitra Campus in nearby Weil am Rhein — buildings by Herzog & de Meuron, Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry and Tadao Ando on a single site — is unmissable.
The city’s calendar anchors the year. Art Basel in June transforms the city into the global centre of the contemporary art world for one week, with 290 galleries and public installations across the Messeplatz and Münsterplatz. The Basler Fasnacht in February — three days of lantern-lit parades, masked musicians and biting satire beginning at 4am — is listed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list and unlike any carnival in Europe. The Swiss Indoors tennis tournament in late October brings the ATP Tour 500 elite to the St. Jakobshalle, one stop before the Tour Finals in Turin.

What Guests Say About Studio 2
★★★★★
“The apartment was very clean, quiet and well furnished, with a lovely care for details. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped. Carsten and Karima were perfect hosts, always doing their best to make guests feel comfortable like at home.”
GIULIA, ITALY · AIRBNB · MAY 2024
★★★★★
“Carsten was a super host from our very first communication and was present, responsive and accommodating throughout our stay — in his comfortable, stylish loft-style flat amid lush garden surroundings. While being only 25 minutes from Basel via public transportation, it represented good value as Basel prices for less comfort and amenities are easily more than double.”
STAN, USA · AIRBNB · MAY 2024
★★★★★
“The apartment is small but very comfortable, finely furnished and with everything you need. The location is excellent — very close to Switzerland. There is always parking nearby. Carsten is extremely hospitable, gives advice on activities in the area and is available for every need.”
ROCCO, ITALY · BOOKING.COM · DECEMBER 2025
